About me

I'm Alejandro Cabrera, a web and backend developer in Granollers. I build websites, automations and custom software for small and medium businesses across Catalonia, through Digital DesAny, the studio I run with Oriol Tamborero.

I use Go and Fiber, Java 21 and Spring Boot 3, Next.js, React and TypeScript, WordPress and PHP, PostgreSQL, Redis and Docker.

My path: from the family laptop to Digital DesAny

  1. Hardware

    2011-2016

    1. 2011

I swap the family laptop's hard drive.

      Granollers, aged 11

The family laptop broke. Instead of throwing it out, I opened it up and swapped the drive. That's how I found a whole system behind the screen that I could read.

    2. 2012

I install Mandriva to play Wormux and Battle for Wesnoth.

      First Linux

Gaming was the driver. On that laptop I fought with packages, repositories and the terminal.

    3. 2014

I build my first PC with what I earn fixing computers.

      For neighbours, family and friends

I started fixing computers for people around me: small repairs, reinstalls and setups.

    4. 2016

I start replacing components: RAM, GPU, cooling.

      Small business and individuals

The repair work grows. On top of reinstalls and setups, I replace hardware: RAM, graphics cards and cooling systems.

  2. Support and study

    2019-2022

    1. 2019

I start teaching myself to code on helpdesk shifts.

      Vaccination centre, first formal job

On-site tech support: tickets, diagnosis and escalation. In the quiet hours I also prepare for the entrance exams to a higher vocational course.

    2. 2022

I start the DAW higher vocational course.

      Web Application Development

From learning alone on shift to learning with structure and classmates: Java (OOP), MySQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Angular, React, PHP and Laravel.

  3. Web and backend

    2024-2026

    1. 2024

I help integrate WiPay with vending machines at Automated Transactions.

Payments over a serial bus at 9600 baud

The cashless payment connects to the machine over MDB. The actual work: translating payment payloads to hexadecimal over a serial bus at 9600 baud.

    2. 2025

I join VMV Cosmetic Group as lead web developer.

      Barcelona, 2025-2026

Within months I was already writing Go microservices, integrating the AS/400 from Java and building the first internal WAF.

Everything I looked after at VMV
    3. 2026

I co-found Digital DesAny with Oriol Tamborero.

      Granollers

A web studio for small and medium businesses across Catalonia: custom websites, social media, automations and custom software.

Simply Bootstrap Carousel

On WordPress.org I've published the Simply Bootstrap Carousel plugin, which has over 10 active installs.

How I work

  • The API and the data first

Before writing business logic, I design the API contract and the database schema. Both are documented, the API in versioned OpenAPI.

  • I measure before changing things

Structured logs and metrics from day one, and I read the logs before touching anything. In the Neibr stress test, p95 stayed under 100 ms at about 968 requests per second.

  • I plan for failure

Timeouts, retries and rate limits from the start, and I validate external data before processing it. In Neibr, idempotent writes and HMAC-signed webhooks.

  • Docs next to the code

Short ADRs for the decisions that matter and READMEs you can actually run. Digital DesAny projects are delivered with full technical documentation.
